5 Signs Your Website Needs a Security Audit

A website that looks fine on the surface can still carry real security risk. Here are five signals worth taking seriously.

A website can look perfectly fine to visitors while quietly carrying real security risk underneath. Here are five signs it's time for a proper audit.

1. It hasn't been updated in a long time. Outdated platforms, plugins and libraries are one of the most common ways sites get compromised.

2. You don't know who has admin access. If you can't list every account with access to your site, that's a gap worth closing.

3. There's no HTTPS, or certificates are managed manually and sometimes lapse. Modern hosting should handle this automatically.

4. Contact and login forms have no rate-limiting or spam protection, leaving them open to abuse.

5. Backups are irregular or untested. A backup you've never restored from is not a real safety net.

None of these issues are unusual, and none require starting over, but each one is worth addressing deliberately rather than hoping it never becomes a problem.
